1 damage per rune doesn't seem like a lot when you look at cards like Dawnstar Healer which provides 3 health under the same condition. That's because you're discounting how insane it is to only need to deal 4 damage in between runes to break another one and proc the effect again. While Relentless Raider is in play, you basically deal 25% extra damage face as long as your opponent isn't healing.

Worst case scenario, your opponent just blew a removal card to destroy something you only spent 1 magicka on because they recognize how threatening this card can be. ☆☆☆☆1/2
A cool combo idea is to copy two of them with Brilliant Experiment, draw until you have 5 in hand and then play all together with a rune-breaking start like Lightning Bolt. This leads to an OTK loop.

This season I've been using 3 copies in my Aggro Catapult Warrior already made it to legend: I had to document 21 lethal against another aggro deck, because I was shocked. "After an enemy rune is destroyed, deal 1 damage to your opponent".
Opponent's face at 21. My creatures in the Shadow Lane:

5/1 Frenzied Alit (Buffed by Morkul Gatekeeper), 4/1 Graystone Ravager, 2/1 Relentless Raider, 2/1 Relentless Raider

-5 Frenzied Alit; face goes down to 16 (rune is broken) each Raider does 1 damage to face), -1 Raider, -1 Raider
Face at 14, (rune is broken) each Raider does 1 damage to face) -1 Raider, -1 Raider
Face at 12
Graytone hits for -4, Face 8, (rune is broken) -1 Raider, -1 Raider
Face at 6
First Raider hits face for -2,
Face at 4, rune is broken -1 Raider, -1 Raider
Last Raider hits face for -2
Face 0
Raiders did 8 extra damage to face!
This card works well in aggro decks: Archer, Warrior, Crusader, Mono red, and Battlemage. I was wondering why this card was listed a "legendary". After using in deck, I can see why. Tips: don't mulligan and don't drop it as 1 mana drop on turn 1. You want to drop behind guards or shadow when ready to break runes. Also the 1 drop helps fill lane for catapult.
12/18/2018: Just played AI for gems and finished off with three turn mana with three Raiders in play! The lowest I've seen is four in ranked, AI, and casual.

Good 1 drop. I often play it in my red decks. Many times it helped me to deal final dmg. Also my opponents using Firebolt type cards on it or attacking it with toughness 2 creatures to get rid of it, or on the other side I can use them to kill guards to let bigger creatures to deal dmg. Not every deck is suitable to have them inside, but generally this is very good card.
