I initially tried a couple of different aggro decks before settling on Archer for the combination of Strength's guard removal and Breakthrough (to simply punch through any guards you can't get rid of), as well as Agility's Lethal and buffing Pilfer creatures.

Ideally try to mulligan for Rihad Horseman, a cheap item to trigger its Breakthrough and some sort of silence or guard removal effect. Also, Swift Strike can really help you win the game when given to a strong creature.

You can win the game with just one or two buffed creatures, but beware unnecessarily triggering traps due to risk of summoning the shackling Dwarven Sphere. It's best to bypass guards with silence, Intimidate or Shield Breaker whenever possible.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It only took 5 tries to win with this deck.

Glad to hear! I had a real rough time trying with the other decks people had posted until I decided to just make my own and got it after a few tries, after which I decided to share it. :)
This deck finally did the trick for me. It was the toughest story mission in the game yet in my opinion. It took me about 5 tries with this deck, but each one it seemed like I was making headway and I knew that the right luck of the draw would eventually win it for me. Ultimately I won by getting out a Baandari Bruiser, putting an Orcish Warhammer on him to get him outside of Crushing Blow range, and then using Swift Strike on him so that he did like 27 damage on one turn! This ALSO required me to get some Intimidates so that my Bruiser ended up in a lane full of enemy traps that had all had their Guard removed, so they were not a threat at all! It required a perfect draw but eventually it worked.

Thank you for the comment! It's great to hear this deck is still helping people out a year after I made it. You are right, it is definitely among the toughest story missions in the game because of the extremely strict turn timer and the immense reliance on RNG in every aspect. You can get a perfect starting hand, but then the traps get the worst placement and triggers and you have to start all over again. I'm glad that even with the 5 tries, it still felt clear that the deck was going to work out.

I might make an updated/new version of this deck once Moons of Elsweyr is out. There have been so many new cards released since I made it after all. I'll keep the old version the same since one of its main pros is how readily all its cards are available, even to people just starting out their collections.
Thanks a ton for this decklist! I was really struggling with beating this mission in only 8 tries, and I just couldn't do it. Found your list here and succeeded on the first attempt! Got lucky and drew a bunch of silence effects, as well as a Swift Strike and a Rihad Horseman that I drew from a mulligan.
