I was inspired to create this deck after reading a comment on reddit from a player that had this combo pulled against them on round 5. The OP was angry and thought it was a ridiculous combo, but I loved the creativity involved in spamming the discard pile to pull out some cards that are going to give the opponent nothing but problems turn after turn.

The other combo to look out for is the Altar of Despair. Use your low cost creatures like Ward Crafter and Deadly Drauger to summon more powerful creatures in their stead, while using Soul Tears to get them back. This allows you to use the same low cost creatures over and over again, especially after you surpass 6 max magika and you can Soul Tear and play out the creature in the same turn.

Gearwork Spider can also beast with the Soul Tear or the Defiler’s slay ability as it summons all Gearwork Spiders from the discard pile. Merchant’s Camel’s summon ability can be spammed again and again with the combo.Night Talon Lord summons the creatures it slays. Once those creatures end up in your discard pile, you can summon them again, thus gaining creatures and summon abilities that don’t even exist in the Sorcerer class.

One of the main issues with this deck is always going to be waiting out the combo and when other the opponent either doesn’t play creatures to set it off, or their creatures are too powerful to be slain by the Defiler. A set of Daedric Daggers could help this along perhaps.
