I’d like to share one of the most fun decks I’ve built so far with you guys . Most of the games this deck plays from behind (hence no jarls, although if you face many control decks you should include two instead of Crushing blows) and comes back with either huge drain swing turns with buffed creatures or simply one hit kills your opponent. I’ve hit higher ranks with it, but didn’t make any screenshots.

Now let’s go in depth on some of the card choices, skipping the obvious ones:

#1. Snake tooth Necklace – I’d run three of these if they weren’t so cluncky when you draw them too early. Tis is basically one of our main comeback mechanics, most of the times used on a giant and at 12 mana we can cast a Necklace and than further buff the creature with dreamora for the ungodly heals.

#2. Crushing blow – I’m still on the fence about this card and swap it with Varanis courier from time time, sometimes I run 2 of both. Crushing blow is better when you are facing a lot of agressive decks with snowball creatures which must be dealt with immideately, while Courier is really good vs controll decks and also synergizes well with Wrothgar Forge, which is also mostly a tech card vs control, but we’ll talk about it later.

#3. Cliff racer – very versatile card which in this deck is mostly used for trades, but also can be sometimes utilized as reach. Pahmar-raht renegade is also worth considering in this slot. It obviously trades better and draws you a card, but most of the time is either too slow or gets removed immideately.

#4. Belligerent Giant – the MVP of this deck. The number of games this guy won me is staggering. The shear tempo and flexibility this card provides is enough to include 3 copies of it. It does though often times poses a problem of unwanted rune
breaking, because of its breakthrough, and breaking runes is the last thing we wanna do with this deck, but that’s not a big enough of a drawback in my book. Edit: Cut one giant to make space for chaurus reaperm.

#5. Goldbrand – also a bit questionable card. When it works it feels amazing, but sometimes it’s just too slow, so it’s in and out of the list depending on the decks I’m facing at the moment.

#6. Wrothgar Forge – As I said previously this is mostly a tech card vs control decks that either have already used their support removal or are low on cards. When it’s played in this situation every minion you play becomes a threat, and control decks simply don’t have that many answers. The main idea is that you play it, and afterwards put only 1 minion on board at a time (even if you can play more) and eventually grind out your opponent. Needless to say that if you manage to find a time to play it vs aggro you’re in a pretty decent spot.

#7. Vigilant Giant – if you made it long enough in the game to drop this bad boy you are probably going to win the game. Big body, taunt, great target to perform the finnishing blow on your opponent, a really solid card overall.

#8. Volendrung – It used to be a second Forge, but after getting it as an Arena reward I’ve decided to give it a try and it pleasantly surprised me. It gives more consistent 1 hit kills since you can cast it twice on the same target, makes your taunts more resilient and comboes pretty well with snake toothed chargers for even more swing turns. Edit: Not running ATM

#9. Last but not least – Dremora Markynaz. The glue that binds this deck together. Your opponent left one of the giants unchecked and decided to go face? Well this dude admires the hatred in his heart but unfortunately he’s dead. In my oppinion one of the most fun cards in this game. It can definetely put your opponent on tilt, but hey that’s why we’re playing the card games in the first place aren’t we? ;)

In conclusion I’d like to include a couple of videos showing this deck in action vs some of the streamers. I really hope you guys will enjoy it and going to have as much fun playing this deck as I do.

UPDATE 22.09.16: Made some tweaks to bring the deck a liitle bit to it’s original form. I never realised how much I was missing chaurus reapers. This card doesn’t look too flashy but there’s rarely a situation where you don’t feel good dropping it on the board. Also Crushing Blows were yet again replaced by Varanis couriers, since I find it very difficult to find good targets for them. Most of the time courier does the same job by weakening a creature to be finished off next turn and also draws you a card which is very important. But that’s more of a meta call, CB is still very good vs monks and other classes with creatures that demand an immidate answer though.

Also just hit top 20 with this deck.

UPDATE 23.09.16: Replaced Varanis couriers with Skooma Racketeer and the results are pretty good. I’ve oftern found myself in a position where I had a 1 attack minion on board which opponents usually chose to ignore, and Skoome Racketeer felt like a good card to utilize this aspect. Also switched back to double forge instead of Volendrung.

UPDATE 26.09.16: Crushing blows are back, removed 1 forge and added 1 necklace to heal more consistantly.

UPDATE 01.10.16: Marathoned this deck to legend – took me 63 games with 75% winrate.

Ungolim + 54 cards hmm. If you reached top 50 it has to be good but i’m a little bit sceptical. Wanna test it tho when i’ll have all the red cards

Funny thing, I’ve actually lost to fatigue vs scout once when this list had 50 cards in it. With the all the cheap cycle that’s not really a big problem though.

Interesting. I’m wondering if its not so much good but rather catching people by surprise. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Well I’ve been playing this deck for a couple of weeks now vs more or less the same ppl at high legend, and by now you’d think they would’ve figured out how to play vs it. But every time I’m watching the videos of the streamers I’ve played that day most of them just shittalk my deck although keep consistently losing to it. I agree that it would become much less viable though, since more people will tech support removal in their decks this season and it will make control mage match up unwinable.

+1 for the creativity and for your results (I met a similar deck the other day on ladder and it beat me hard, so apparently it works), though at first glance I would swap a lot of your card choices (Goldbrand, Beligerent Giant, Swift Strike – I understand your reasoning, but those does not seem to be useful cards in a control deck).

Anyway, congratulations to your results!

I can understand why people are on the fence with Goldbrand or even Swift Strike by that matter, but Beligerent Giant is one of the best cards for this deck. He synergizes with everything starting from the forge, ending with Dremora and swift strike and is the only option of support removal besides the dreugh available to archer, and with all of the hist groves and divine fervors out there that’s not a small thing either. Thank you for you comment though, I do appreciate any kind of feedback.
