I've been playing variations of this deck for a long time and it has brought me to legend on several occasions, but I rarely see this kind of deck on the ladder. Therefore, it seems like many decks are unprepared to deal with it, and I've had much success with it in the new post-Alliance meta.

The goal is to bring out cheap, tough bodies early in the game and use curses and efficient removal to get ahead, then finish strong with the Monk's Strike/Dawnbreaker + Swift Strike combo.
  • Monk's Strike or Dawnbreaker + Swift Strike is the main win condition, although the deck still succeeds even if you don't happen to draw it. If you have a 4 power body on board and your opponent is at 14 or less health, you've got a nice surprise lethal.
  • Curses and Shearpoint Dragon are great together, of course. Murkwater Scourge gives a lot of value with this combo by generating lots of Curses for you.
  • Execute and Grisly Gourmet can make for some very efficient removal when comboed with Curses and Cloudrest Illusionist.
  • Mournhold Traitor is great in this deck, because the last gasp guard he summons for your opponent is usually a non-issue, thanks to Curses and Grisly Gourmet.
  • Hive Defender is there for some resilience and protecting your other threats.
  • Cliff Racer and Tazkhad are there for you when you just need to push out damage quickly, and they make for a win condition just about as often as the combo. When you're maxed out on Magicka you can push 14 damage + drain from hand with a Cliff Racer and the Swift Monk Strike combo.
