When choosing the "Kill" option for this encounter, a special effect is in play that causes both players take double damage from all sources. Kastus plays a very aggressive deck in order to take advantage of this special effect, and there is no reason for us to not do the same.

The standout mechanic for helping you win this fight is Shackle, as it allows you to continue to race your opponent while preventing damage to yourself. Cards like Shrieking Harpy, Arrow in the Knee, and Mace of Encumbrance can really swing things in your favor. The deck also features a fair amount of cards with Prophecy, so that you can gain the advantage by putting creatures in play and swinging immediately with them the following turn.

Below is a video of this deck beating the encounter.

Be prepared to take dozens if not hundreds of attempts to win anyway. Kastus's deck is complete BS - only 30 cards, multiple copies of all the best possible cheap stuff. If you don't get the ring, concede immediately. If you don't get a perfect opening hand, concede immediately.
