today I wanted to share a cool assassin deck Freshgaming, Snaxximan, wls, mjodin, Lateralus used to finish #5 #6 #8 #10 #11 respectively while some of the other top 10 players gave a shot to this deck with some amount of success. The decklist shares a lot of cards with eyenie's deck people had some success with this month but later fell out of favour.

The archetype idea is relatively old, people played similar deck since january but the deck wasn't that popular back then. [Although it's entirely possible that it was because the perfect list wasn't found, as a result it was listed in the unrefined section of the meta snapshot].

With the addition of dark brotherhood, the deck got access to contract-generating 3-drops which solved one of the main problems of the deck, the lack of pressure between turn 4 and 9 by speeding up the time you can cast your 9-drop.

The deck may remind you various URx delver tempo decks from Magic the gathering or the tempomage from HS.

While playing the deck, try to get field lane control, against aggressive decks like orcs/aggrobattlemage try to not pop the first rune until you have an opening to start racing (and winning the race) and 2/3-turn lethl them, this usually doesn't happen until turn 5+. Against slower decks like merric, ctrlmage, monk you're supposed to apply constant pressure from the very start, it is rarely correct to miss damage against merric or ctrlmage, but is sometimes correct to do so against monk/spellsword if by missing damage you increase the chance of your atromancer hitting on a favourable board. Strategy against archer/mirror varies greatly on case-by-case basis, sometimes you are supposed to never pop a rune, waiting for atromancer to come and sometimes you want to offer a damage race.

When I played assasin meta was controllish. And cards like harpies, daggerfalls, traitors, and wardcafters just didn't work. I tried that variant of deck in that time, it was just worse. But on last days of the season everyone started to play agro/mid decks so blue variant became better.

Yeah, in some metas green version is better, I really liked the way it performs vs ctrlmage for instance. But overall I really felt that daggerfall is hard to deal with with many decks, it solidifies the field lane control, sometimes gives you durability into lategame. Harpies somehow felt needed, the deck had minor weakness to Night shadow without them.

I still like the way the blue version works vs ctrlmonk/ctrlspellsword btw.
Why no ungolim?

This deck is way too fast for ungolim, as it wants to curve out at atro to kill opponent. By then it is unlikely to draw an assassin and ungolim only becomes a 1/1. It also only runs 6 cycle cards and doesn't take advantage of pings as archer does.

I mean, it's an alright deck...

Seriously though, I'm having a great time with this deck. It seems to have an answer for everything and doesn't rely on combos to win. The Brotherhood Slayer fits in here very well! Thanks for sharing

What about "Pahmar Renegade" instead of Deshaan Avenger?

I don't think so. Avengers costs less magicka and this is a fast deck, renegade costs 5 and too slow, besides card draw not too important cuz this is a fast deck.

Weak (still not awful) against to control mage, good vs most other lategame decks, notably it's the worst matchup of controlmonk. Not sure why do you want to have support removal against ctrl, what are the supports you are afraid of? The way it deals with guards is by having control of open lane (this deck is the best in getting it) and then favourably trading with the help of warded creatures or using curse-leaflurker to get through.
