Hello everyone,

so I finally decided to participate in the upcoming pauper tournament, which lead to the fact that I needed a strong deck with only common cards. In the last Pauper-tournaments and also the list of shared pauper decks, I noticed a majority of aggro and midrange decks. Probably because of the reason, that all the good „finishers“ used in control decks are mostly rares or legendaries. However, to counter the anticipated meta, I decided to build a defensive midrange oriented deck, which should work out fine versus early/aggro decks and also be able to beat other midrange decks.

It features a lot of persistent creatures with a high health, regenerate and guard. So aggro-decks should have a hard time to break through the guards. To make the deck even more effective versus Aggro, it features 15 Prophecy cards, which should help to get stuff on the board and reclaim board control.

Main card of the deck is the „East empire crafter“. If she remains on the field, there are 18 possible other creatures who have 5 or more health and could profit from her ability. The +1/+1 is nice but even more important ist he fact, that she also gives guard to all of these creatures. Especially for the late game drops like the Stonehill Mammoth and the IronScale Dragon. Who wants to deal with 8 health guard creatures? – especially in a format where you dont have lot of removals.

Another side-strategy of the deck is to make the „Guards“ even more unpleasant by buffing them with items. While „Enchanted Plate“ and „Tome of alteration“ also provide card draw, a „Oldgate Warden“ with “Daedric dagger” can block a whole lane in the early/mid.

I am looking forward to see this deck in action. If you want -> just test it yourself and share your feedback with me ^.^

Kind regards,
TripleRaze
