This deck was already one of the strongest decks before the expansion and got very good cards with the expansion like circle initiate, thief of dreams and ancano. Its also super strong in the current race meta in high legend.

Optimizing lane positioning is everything what this deck is about. You really need to understand how to place your creatures correctly depending on which cards your enemy plays. For example you want to lure an enemy daggerfall into the shadow lane and his hive defender into the field lane, so you can just go to the shadowlane afterwards again and his guard in the field wont matter.

Prophecy BM is one of the few decks with which you want to open in the shadow lane, then mostly go field after you lost shadow and back to shadow after you lost field. Dont go into field if youre facing charge decks.

You can race and win against nearly every deck because of your high prophecy count, dawnstar healer is one of the few problematic cards.

Play your guard creatures first if you have to choose betwenn multiple 2/3 drops because they wont be able to gain cover later. Also try to keep afflicted alit in ur hand over other 2 drops, because many people make the mistake and hit you to 26, afflicted alit allows you to destroy ur own rune and give you a card(mostly prophecy). And it also allows you to actiavte circle initate on the same turn its played sometimes(with 4 magicka).

Matchups: You win against most aggro/midrange decks because they cant defend themselves and you outrace them. Midrange mage is an exception. That matchup might go bad , because of its high prophecy count and cards like hive defender and dawnstar healer which allow midrange mage to outrace you. Ramp scout is kinda even. it was a favored matchup for propehcy bm before the expansion, but ramp scout has a lot of guards/shackle/healing now which makes it pretty annoying to play against it.

Dont waste your cast outs and spinners, they are really usefull to get rid of guards/drain creatures.

Missing some of the cards, what would you substitute x2 Grahtwood Ambusher and x3 Thief of Dreams with?

Maybe x3 Shieldbreakers and something else?

What do you think of Crushing Blow? I've seen alot of BM lists that don't include it but i kind of like it.

Extra reach that can get past guard, snipe 3 hp targets that must die (like that 6/3 drain legend).

Also some games u get to burst at 7 mana with lightning bolt + Crushing blow where with mace you'd need 8 mana and no guard in the way.

Theres not really a card you would want to cut for it. If you want some burst from hand, even ice spike is better, but then again, its worse than the other cards. Crushing blow early in the hand is pretty much useless, its a wasted turn 3 for prophecy bm, you want to play proactive cards, not reactive ones. And you have enough ways to deal with drain creatures(spinner, cast out, lightingin bolt, shackle, vigilante) if you really have to. You mostly win with getting a strong early board, having more tempo than your enemy and rushing him down, if he decides to race you, you win because of your porphecies. Crushing blow doesnt help on improving that gameplan. Of course it looks appealing at first, if you think about drawing a crushing blow when your enemy is on 3 hp, but first, a crushing blow in your deck will often not even allow you to get an enemy to 3hp, and second, you have a lot of burst already with lightning bolt, camlorn hero, vigilante(+ removal on the same turn so it can hit face even with guards), ancano and even cast out allows you to cast out one of ur burst creautres if you really need to.

Thanks really appreciate such a descriptive answer, I'll go ahead and craft the Thieves since I see they are also used in a Midrange mage deck I have my eye on, which funnily enough is also another one of your decks xD

What is the purpose of Grahtwood Ambusher? I only have one of those but I don't really have a good grasp on how relevant that card is so I'm not sure whether to replace it with something.

It wins you a lot of races vs other aggro decks when you draw it as a prophecy, because you get a 4/2 body + kill some enemies. Its not the most important card in this deck, but definetly a good addition to prophecy battlemage.

hero, you want to play proactive, not reactive. Sentinel is a defensive card, you dont want those in prophecy battlemage.

Why here a thief and ambusher? After 20+ games (winrate negative), the utility of these cards was zero.
Won 12 games straight. Then lost the next 15 in a row. Looks like everyone's metagaming this one now.
