If you curve out with this deck, you almost always win. Rule of thumb is that you mulligan for 2s if you’re going first and settle for a 3 if you go second. Though this deck generally has a pretty aggressive game plan, I found it to be a lot more consistent than the aggro warrior lists that have been floating around. You outpace midrange archer, which is key to maintaining a life advantage. You can rush down slower decks, yet you have the card quality to keep coming even after they draw answers to your first few plays. You will have a serious problem against real aggro decks, but if you make value plays while maintaining board presence and/or get lucky with prophecy you still have a solid chance of winning unfavorable matchups.

Good Matchups: MR Archer, Scout Ramp, Combo Battlemage, Action Assassin
Bad Matchups: Aggro, Control Mage

I’ll explain some of the cards that might seem questionable.

Sharpshooter Scout – This can help you make efficient trades, but it’s primarily a tech card against the popularity of Slaughterfish Spawning in aggressive decks. Chosen over Rapid Shot due to Withered Hand Cultist and the prophecy keyword.

Cast Out – This may seem weird in a deck that features Withered Hand, but it generates too much tempo not to include. Turn 5, they play Markarth Bannerman, you respond with Cast Out and a 2-drop? That’s gg. Crucial for bouncing drain creatures when your opponent is trying to come back. And when it comes out on prophecy it’s even better.

Shadowfen Priest – Seems out of place in a deck this aggressive, but it’s an important tech card against Wrothgar Forge, and it makes it even more likely you’ll have that clutch silence to get past a guard.

Good luck, have fun!

Yeah, the current prophecy battlemage list is extremely rough for this deck. Glad it’s working out for you.
