This season, I decided to play some new decks as I had played a lot of Nix-Ox Telvanni and Control Tribunal the previous season. The two that I have played the most have been Aggro Redoran and Mid Dagoth. This list is the one I have played the most, and I am really enjoying it.

This list is a little different from a traditional mid-range list, in that it doesn't necessarily always focus on playing "on curve." It certainly contains cards that make for fantastic on curve plays, but it's built in a way that it won't stumble too hard if it misses a play. The early game is very strong with cards like Mournhold Traitor, Awakened Dreamer, Crown Quartermaster, and Wardcrafter. The Quartermaster in particular is nice because the dagger can help activate Gambler or Berserker later on.

Many of the three cost creatures are also meant to be "on curve" plays, and they help fight for control of the board. Daggerfall Mage is always great at contesting lanes. Brotherhood Slayer is a great Prophecy card, and it is great at trading with its Slay ability. Dagoth Oathman is often just a 4/4 if played on curve, but a 4/4 for three magicka is good enough. Skaven Pyromancer is one of the many cards that can help this deck fight from behind, as it is great at clearing out small creatures.

Speaking of creatures that help this deck "come back," this deck has several cards with Drain. Hand of Dagoth, Brynjolf, and Queen Barenziah all help this deck get back some health against aggressive decks. These represent "must answer" threats for opponents on an aggressive gameplan. Further increasing the value of these cards are Sentinel Battlemace and Seyda Neen Courier, as these can really help push the amount of health gained way up. These items also help this deck with the amount of reach it has, and this deck has a lot of it. The items in the deck can help close out games, but so can the creatures with Charge and the other sources of direct damage. Cliff Racer, Tazkad the Packmaster, Ancano, Lightning Bolt, and even Merric-at-Aswala can all help push for lethal damage late in the game.

Check out the video below for an explanation of the list, as well as some games played if you want to see the deck in action.
