This variant of mage uses 2x brilliant experiment and nahkriin as its late game rather than supreme atromancer. These replacements allow you to be much more reactive and defend yourself much better. Using peddler as a draw engine is also extremely satisfying, and he is a solid two drop as many opponents will spend resources to remove him in the early game.

Why I believe brilliant experiment is probably better than atromancer in control mage:
While atromancer is an extremely powerful finisher, it does not defender yourself unlike brilliant experiment which is versatile. Copying hive defenders, harpies, tribunes in aggro match ups is much better than having atromancer. In control mirrors, ayrenn loops and copying miraak is as powerful as atromancer.
